June 2021: PDSP organized the Strategic Support Group SSG monthly meeting during 23-24 June, 2021 via ZOOM platform as part of the precautionary measures taken by the Political Dialogue Support Programme in implementing activities in the cities in which the Programme operates during Corona pandemic. This month’s meeting was attended by a representative of the office of the UN SG special envoy to Yemen in Sana’a. The main objective of the meeting was for the SSG members to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the conflicting political parties in order to achieve peace and to come up with solutions and suggestions in light of the recent political developments including the recent visit of an Omani delegation to Sana’a, which held a number of meetings with key stakeholders in Sana’a, including with Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, the Supreme Political Council in Sana’a, and representatives of political parties and prominent social figures and personalities. The recent developments include also the visit of the UN envoy to Yemen to Sana’a last May and his briefing to the Security Council on June 15, 2021. In addition, the meeting was allocated to discussing the latest development at the local, regional and international levels pertaining to Yemen, such as the war in Marib, printing 400 billion of local YR currency without cover by the government in Aden, fighting at Yemeni-Saudi borders, the presidential elections in Iran, and the US and UK occupation of Islands in Yemen
